A Bonnett, 10th February 2017 - Verified BidderRated 3 stars out of 5Spacious but very "Retro".
This is a country hotel/motel which was built in the 1960's. The bed was very supportive (clearly not the original) and the air conditioning in the back wall did a valiant job of getting the temperature in our room down to the mid 20's during the extreme heatwave conditions when it was over 40C outside. Because of the era, there wasn't an extractor fan in the bathroom so although there was good ventilation the extreme heat and humidity from outside came into the bathroom leaving a bit of mould. Continental Breakfasts to our room were included (and both filling and delicious) with delightful fruit juice supplied along with cereals and milk, and toast with butter and jams. We were in Room 14, with a Queen Size bed and a handy single bed for putting our bags on. Rooms 11 - 19 face South, making them far more comfortable in the heatwave conditions, and the whole area seemed peaceful overnight. The 2 for 1 Bistro meal was great with plenty of food and good prices, and we enjoyed another evening meal in the Bistro on another night. All the staff were friendly and cheerful (despite the heat), making our stay a pleasure. We decided not to have a dip at the foreshore swimming area, but for younger people it would be a welcome respite during a similar heatwave. We enjoyed day trips out from our accommodation to the Copper Coast, Clare Valley and Port Pirie. As long as you expect an older style country motel room, you should love this economical Travel Auction break.
